Full Treatment Process

What to Expect From Your First Call to Your Final Follow-Up

Every treatment at Metro Dental — whether a single veneer or a full 3-on-6™ reconstruction — follows the same coordinated seven-step process. This is what you can expect from your first phone call through long-term maintenance. Every step happens at our Lexington, MA office, with your treating doctor — Dr. Fedorenko or Dr. Ford — overseeing your care from start to finish.

  1. 01 Same-day response

    Initial Contact & Scheduling

When you submit a consultation request or call us — new patients (617) 356-0860 or existing patients (617) 918-7887 — our team responds within one business day during office hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM). We will ask a few brief questions about what brings you to us — a specific concern, a recommendation from another patient, or a second opinion you are seeking — and schedule your consultation, usually within the following week.

There is no obligation at this stage. The initial call is simply about understanding your situation well enough to make your first visit efficient.

  2. 02 60–90 minutes

    Comprehensive Consultation & 3D Imaging

Your first in-office visit is the most important. Plan for 60 to 90 minutes so we have time to do this properly. You will meet your treating doctor — Dr. Alex Fedorenko or Dr. Christian Ford — directly, — not a hygienist or assistant standing in — for a complete evaluation.

    What is included:

    • Full clinical exam of your teeth, gums, bite, and soft tissues
    • CBCT 3D scan that maps your bone, nerve positions, and sinus anatomy in high resolution
    • Intra-oral photography that lets us document your starting point and plan aesthetic changes precisely
    • Bite analysis to check for grinding, uneven wear, or occlusal problems that need to be factored into any long-term plan
    • Conversation about your goals — what has been bothering you, what you want your smile to look like, what you can and cannot commit to in terms of time and investment

You will leave this visit with a clear picture of what is realistic, what is not, and what options exist. No pressure to proceed the same day.

  3. 03 Within 3–5 business days

    Written Treatment Plan & Estimate

After your consultation, your treating doctor reviews the imaging and clinical notes, then prepares a written treatment plan that covers:

    • Phased sequence of care — exactly what happens first, second, third
    • Timeline expectations for each phase, including healing periods
    • Line-item cost estimate with each procedure priced individually
    • Financing walk-through showing CareCredit and Proceed Finance monthly payment options for your specific case
    • Alternatives — if multiple treatment paths are reasonable, we describe both and recommend one

You receive the plan by email or can pick it up in the office. This is your document to review, share with family, and ask questions about before any treatment begins.

  4. 04 Weeks to months

    Preparatory Phase (If Needed)

Not every case needs this phase, but complex implant and full-mouth reconstruction cases usually do. Preparatory work may include:

    • Gum disease treatment to bring active gum disease under control before any restorative work
    • Extractions of failing teeth that cannot be saved
    • Bone grafting to rebuild jawbone volume where long-term tooth loss has caused resorption
    • Sinus lift surgery to create vertical bone space for upper-back-tooth implants
    • Gum grafting to correct recession before cosmetic restoration

Because Dr. Fedorenko and Dr. Ford perform this surgical work in-house, these procedures happen in our office — no referrals out, no cross-office handoffs. Healing periods between phases are planned into your overall timeline, and we monitor progress with periodic follow-up imaging.

  5. 05 One or more visits

    Surgical Phase

For implant cases, the surgical phase places titanium implants into the prepared bone under local anesthesia. Oral sedation is available for anxious patients or longer procedures. Most patients drive themselves home after single-implant placements; sedated patients need a designated driver.

For 3-on-6™ and All-on-X full-arch cases, we often place a temporary bridge the same day as surgery, so you leave with functional, presentable teeth while the implants heal.

Post-operative care is managed at our office. You will receive detailed written instructions, prescriptions if needed, and direct contact information for questions during your recovery. A follow-up visit the next week confirms proper healing.

  6. 06 3–6 months

    Healing & Integration

Dental implants require osseointegration — a biological process where the titanium surface fuses with your natural bone. This takes 3 to 6 months depending on your bone quality, smoking status (smoking significantly slows healing), and overall health.

During this phase you visit us every 6 to 8 weeks for brief check-ins. We confirm proper healing with clinical exam and, when indicated, follow-up imaging. If a temporary bridge is in place, we monitor its stability and adjust as needed.

This is the least eventful phase of treatment — and a sign things are going well.

  7. 07 Long-term

    Final Restoration & Long-Term Care

Once osseointegration is confirmed, your treating doctor places the final restoration — a custom porcelain crown, bridge, or the three 3-on-6™ porcelain bridges. This phase typically takes two visits: precision impressions and lab fabrication, then placement, bite adjustment, and final polish.

    Long-term care begins immediately:

    • Routine cleanings every 3 to 6 months depending on your case
    • Annual exams with updated imaging to monitor implant health
    • Maintenance of the 3-on-6™ Limited Lifetime Lab Warranty requires meeting routine cleaning and follow-up expectations
    • Same-doctor continuity — you continue to see your treating doctor — Dr. Fedorenko or Dr. Ford — for all follow-up visits, not a rotating associate

With proper maintenance, dental implants themselves often last 20 years or more. The crowns or bridges on top may be maintained or replaced over that period, but the titanium foundation below is designed to remain stable for many years with proper care.

Payment & Financing Options

We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (Indemnity plans) and Delta Dental (Premier plans). For all other dental insurers we operate as a fee-for-service practice and submit claims on your behalf for any portion your plan covers; we do not participate with MassHealth. Every treatment plan comes with a written, itemized estimate before we begin. For major work, three financing paths keep treatment accessible:

CareCredit

Up to 24 months no-interest if paid in full

Healthcare credit card accepted at 270,000+ providers nationwide. Apply in our office or online — most applications receive an instant decision.

Apply with CareCredit

Proceed Finance

Up to 120-month terms for larger cases

Longer-term financing designed specifically for full-mouth reconstructions, 3-on-6™, and All-on-X implant cases. Fixed-rate monthly payments.

Apply with Proceed Finance

In-House Payment Plans

2–4 installment plans

Short-term installment plans arranged directly with our office for mid-size cases when third-party financing isn't the right fit.

Insurance We Work With

Honest note about the "$399" and "$1,000 dental implant" ads you'll see elsewhere: those prices are almost always for a single implant post — not the abutment, not the crown, not the preparatory work (extractions, bone grafts, sinus lifts). A complete tooth replacement is a multi-component treatment.

At Metro Dental, every estimate is written down with line-item pricing before we begin — so you know exactly what you're paying for, and why. If someone else quotes you a single number that sounds too good to be true, ask them what's included. That's the honest way to compare.

We had a wonderful experience at Metro Dental when my daughter needed a tooth removal. The dentist was very skilled, kind, and made her feel completely comfortable throughout the treatment. My daughter stayed calm and happy, which meant so much to us. The entire staff was also very welcoming and friendly. I definitely recommend Metro Dental to my friends and family!

I apologize for the long review however I feel it’s important you understand why I’m extremely grateful for Dr Alex & Team. I hope you all read until the end. I am a metastatic breast cancer survivor on disability with a very limited income. I started to have pain in my jaw area and realized it was my tooth. Let me tell you out of all the surgeries I had this pain was by far the worst …. totally unbearable! Memorial Day I went to Urgent Care, they prescribed me an antibiotic and naproxen. I checked my insurance (covered by my ex husband) and realized I didn’t have dental coverage. Trying to find a dentist I learned that most no longer extract teeth in the office and they refer you to an oral surgeon. Having no insurance I needed the least out of pocket expense and that was not going to an Oral Surgeon. Jump to Friday now a week in level 20 pain! I find a place Smiley Dental in Lowell they say come in. I’m like thank u no more pain after today. I get there do X-rays (all the technology we have still using hard films that dig in your cheeks and ask me to bite down already at level 20 pain sure no problem ughhh)! The dentist reads my intake paperwork, X-rays and literally peeks in my mouth and says. I need to get medical clearance from my oncologist. (my bad I guess I should have known that) and a stronger antibiotic. As I’m crying I understand and pray the stronger antibiotics will ease my pain over the weekend. I get the clearance I’m sched that Monday at 2 pm. I call the dentist the girl at the desk confirms they got it, all set for 2 see u then. Thank God it’s gonna happen!!! At 12:30 I get a call from a super sweet girl that tells me the Dr doesn’t feel comfortable treating me. I’m like what r u serious? I got what she needed. I asked to talk with her she wouldn’t she just wanted to send me to an Oral Surgeon. I’m lost I can’t do this anymore im literally losing my mind the pain is taking my mind and body over. My friend starts googling she’s like your getting this done we’re finding somewhere. She locates Metro Dental & Implant located In Lexington. She calls it’s now around 2 pm it goes to vm so she leaves a frantic msg. She gets a call back right away. I explained everything and without hesitation they booked me to come in for 3:30! Keep in mind they close at 4 and said come right in. I get there and can I just say they are state of the art, technology and equipment are 2nd to none! The entire staff EVERY single one is amazing, super friendly, caring, thorough but honestly the list can go on and on! Dr Alex was superb, he felt so bad for what I had gone through and said “we will take care of you and stop your pain today”. A true blessing, a person who actually cared about me and not himself! (Unlike the previous dentist) He explained all my options and what each would cost with 0 pressure! Unfortunately the infection was too deep so we had to extract. The Dr and his assistant (i apologize I can’t remember his name but it began with a T) were both gentle and walked me through every step! Dr Alex and his team literally saved me from my infection progressing and potentially causing a life threatening situation! If I could rate higher than a 5 I would. I mean they took me right away, stayed open late, 0 pressure on the different options, were very understanding with my financial situation and let’s not forget they stopped my excruciating pain. THANK YOU Dr Alex and his team I am forever grateful ❤️ Ps. I tried to get a refund from Smiley Dental for my consultation because they literally chose not to help me. However as I thought they won’t.

I rarely write positive reviews, but this time I want to say thank you 100%. I truly appreciate honest doctors who care about their reputation, their work, and their patients — not just money. This doctor is exactly that. The free consultation lasted over an hour, not 10 minutes. X-rays were taken, and everything was clearly explained and shown to me: what treatment was needed, why, and what the underlying causes were. There was no rush and no pressure — just professionalism, attention, and genuine care. I am also very happy with the treatment itself. Highly recommended!

I’d love to share my experience at this dental studio. This was one of those rare times when a dental visit felt calm, comfortable, and genuinely pleasant. I received a complimentary consultation where everything was explained clearly and thoroughly, and a thoughtful treatment plan was created for me. Throughout the entire visit, I felt completely taken care of. The team worked with such professionalism, precision, and care, always paying close attention to my comfort. All of my dental treatment was done beautifully, and I left not only with great results but also feeling relaxed and truly grateful. I’m so happy I trusted this team and found a dental studio I can confidently call my own. Thank you for your professionalism, kindness, and care. I will definitely be coming back.

I went to another dentist for five years, and I was disappointed with that place! As for Metro Dental & Implant Studio, the first visit proved to be very effective and informative. I received excellent advice and a clearer idea of what I need to do with my teeth in the coming time! Thank you to these people for their high professionalism and individual approach!

Dr. Alex and his staff are great! They do amazing work, and actually care about your teeth. They'll lay out all the costs and the work they want to do upfront, unlike other dentists who make you ask a thousand questions just to get basic answers. I drive about 2 hours because of the quality of care. Wouldn't trust my teeth anywhere else.

I haven’t been to the dentist in 9 years and finally decided to make a trip from Missouri to see Dr. Alex and his team! It was the best decision I’ve made! Ребята, у кого проблемы с зубами настоятельно рекомендую эту клинику! Прошел весь курс лечения за два дня. Если бы еще раз приходилось лечить зубы, это было бы только в Метро дентал! Alex is perfect doctor, a Pro in his trait !
